どっかに、古いversionのmewencodeがあると、動きませんので、
一度、which mewencode で、どこのを呼ばれているか
確かめてください。

path変数に入っているディレクトリを順にさがしていきますので、
もしかしたら、別のmewencodeを呼ばれているかもしれません。
