imget version 980210 で試してみましたが、やはり同じです。
ただし、前に試した時とは、まったく違う環境です。

で、~/.im/Config に

       =fj.editor.misc=nntp:fj.editor.misc;\
       =fj.editor.xemacs=nntp:fj.editor.xemacs

と記述しています。FolderMode は特に指定していません。
