[Mew-dist 09539] Error in reading mime message "char-width" undefined

I am running mew 1.93b38 on XEMACs 21.1 

I just started using it last week.

Everything is fine except that when I try to analyze messages with
mime-attachments, I get the error:

   Symbol's function definition is void: char-width 

I could not tell where this error is coming from. I had the perl, the
perl scripts etc installed correctly. 

I couldn't see the mention of it in the online FAQ, and thus this
question to the mailing list.
