I finally re-produced this phenomenon only on Emacs 20.4. Goto-san's
patch doesn't work for Emacs 20.4 on Unix.
I have hacked this stuff for many hours and I do believe this is a bug
of Emacs 20.4. Believing or not, this bug never appears on other
Emacsen such as Emacs 19 and XEmacs.
On Emacs 20.4, Mew's faces are certainly marked as bold on ALL
frame. But Emacs 20.4 doesn't display strings with these face property
as bold.
The right way to fix this is report the Emacs developers.
