[mew-int 00565] POP/SMTP Process life

Hi,
I am trying to use Mew and do stuff like check multiple POP
accounts. I am facing this problem though.
I start mew with a default POP server. It retrieves the messages
in the POP server. When I change the POP user name and type "mew"
again, it complains about another process running. The first process
has for sure completed retrieving the messages. I feel the process
should die after that and the new process should start. The
completion of mail retrieval is known internally to MEW as it updates
the Modeline. I feel there should be a hook function to call user
defined methods after completely retrieving the POP mails. I could
then add a method to kill the process if it is still alive. The need
arises because I want to have a CRON job like setup to get mails from
my various accounts (thank God it is just 2!).
Also, is there a way of accessing mails thru a PROXY server needing
 AUTH from MEW?
I would request any responses to this mail to be CC'ed to me as I am
not subscribed to this list. Thanks in advance.

with regards,
dhruva

PS: I am using Mew 2.1 on Emacs 21.1
