Sorry for the poor explanation. Thank you for the patch, but I don't
think it is what I'm looking for (I did try it and experienced the
same problems).
I have revised the set of instructions for reproducing the problem
(only step 4 is different):
1) Create yourself a non-empty .rtf file. I used Abiword for this.
2) Send yourself a message containing the non-empty .rtf file as an
attachment.
3) Retrieve the message with the attachment.
4) View the message using ",".
5) Now run mew-summary-pipe-message and choose "cat" as the command
to execute.
What I observe is:
Under certain circumstances (see instructions above), what is sent
to the shell command does not appear to be the content what was
originally in the file (but has been read in to an Emacs buffer),
but some kind of marked-up text.
When I invoked mew-summary-pipe-message and used "cat", I saw some
kind of marked-up text displayed instead of the content corresponding
to the what is stored in the file corresponding to the current
message.
What I see displayed is something like:
Content-Type: text/enriched
Text-Width: 70
<x-color><param>LimeGreen</param>Received: </x-color><x-color><param>gray50</param>from 243.78.149.210.economy.2iij.net (root at example.com [210.149.78.243])</x-color>
<x-color><param>gray50</param>by neoteny.eccosys.com (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id SAA12949</x-color>
[The rest has been omitted]
What I expect is:
When using "cat" with mew-summary-pipe-message, I expect to see the
content of the message in text form (no mark-up), in other words how
the file would appear when viewing it using "less".
I hope this made the situation clearer.
