[mew-int 00853] 2.2 and missing mewls

Hello,

I have had to reinstall mew ( long story ) so I downloaded 2.2 ( Had
2.1 previously ).  Installed with prefix '/usr/local/emacs' and all
seemed fine.  However I am getting an error:

" mewls not found "

I have /usr/local/emacs/bin ( wherein resides mewls ) added to load
path but still get the same error.

Please might someone be so kind as to enlighten me as to exactly where
I am going wrong.
