Thanks. I did spend quite some time going through the FAQ, but I
couldn't find anything that explained this specifically.
As you suggested, I added
(setq mew-pop-auth 'pass) to my both of the ~/.mew.el on my system (one
in the Emacs directory and the other in the Xemacs directory, but I
still get the same result: I am asked for an APOP password, and I don't
know what I am supposed to input. Is this value supposed to be placed at
a specific point in the file?

I appreciate this. I will try to study it. But it doesn't seem to have
this kind of instance.
I a working from a single workstation that is not a server, trying to
connect to my Global Online POP account via DSL.
