[mew-int 01403] "Delete backup versions" message

Starting yesterday, every time I try to send out a mail, I get a buffer
message that says

 "Delete backup versions of /home/chuck/Mail/draft/1? (y or n)"

I cleaned out the /draft folder externally, but that didn't fix it. Then I
deleted the /draft folder completely, but still the same error occurs. Any
suggestions?

(Mew version 3.1 on Emacs 21.2 )
