This is a new behavior.

Assumption is that a typical user presses '/' on the target Summary
mode. For example, a user goes to +foo and comes to want to create
Virtual mode, then types '/'. +foo is default for this case.

Moreover you don't have to erase +inbox. Type C-s in the minibuffer
and you can find your target folder very easily.
