I think I could find that, but I am trying to avoid dealing with
GSSAPI and kerberos directly. Thus the usage of imtest. Imtest was
not designed to be used for this, it was just designed to be a
tool to test a cyrus imapd. This has not prevented the gnus folks
to use imtest for this anyway and I think I found some imtest
specific code in gnus/imap.el. That is not pretty, but what can
you do?.

So after starting imtest and it says "Aunthenticated.", I can talk to
it directly with imap commands like "A02 select inbox". Probably
imtest should answer "* PREAUTH Cyrus IMAP4 ready" instead. I'll
hear with folks who know more about cyrus about that.

Or worse ;) I don't know about a proper TLS wrapper for GSSAPI, so
I'm trying to use what I've got and that is imtest.

Harald.
