Don't set mew-smtp-user ("smtp-user" in mew-config-alist) to
non-nil if your SMTP server doesn't support SMTP AUTH. The default
value of mew-smtp-user is nil.

If you want to make a cache of passwords, set mew-use-cached-passwd
to t. To use a master password file with gpg, set
mew-use-master-passwd to t. See also Mew manual, section "Password".
