I found a description of the ranges, so "sync" is supposed to remove
deleted messages and "update" add new messages. Is there simply a
"make this mailbox contents correct" option, perhaps equivalent to
sync + update? I've never seen another mailreader with so many update
options, I just want it to work :-)

I got this partially fixed. I installed emacs-w3m so I can display
HTML parts, and enabled mew-use-w3m-minor-mode, but it doesn't use
w3m-minor-mode automatically. If I use M-x w3m-minor-mode explicitly
then I can TAB to links. Maybe mew-w3m.el is too old?
Thanks again,
