The man command on Solaris 7 doesn't seem to grok your mgp.man file, when I do
'man mgp' the top portion showing the NAME and SYNOPSIS does not show up. This
is the first thing I see on Solaris.

 is an X11 based presentation tool. It is designed to make simple
 presentations easy while to make complicated presentations possi-
 ble. Its presentation file is just text so that you can create
 presentation files quickly with your favorite editor (such as
 Emacs). The file consists of text and control commands (such as

So I must install mgp on Linux and use man there. Not the end of the world, but
not everyone on Solaris has Linux available.

And speaking of Linux, making mgp on Linux (Slackware 8) gives these errors.

rman -f HTML < xwintoppm._man \
> xwintoppm.1x-html && mv -f xwintoppm.1x-html xwintoppm.1x.html
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/tpg/j/magicpoint-1.09a/contrib/xwintoppm'
rm -f mgpnet._man
ln -s mgpnet.man mgpnet._man
rm -f mgpnet.1x.html mgpnet.1x-html
rman -f HTML < mgpnet._man \
> mgpnet.1x-html && mv -f mgpnet.1x-html mgpnet.1x.html

The error above may be the reason that this fails on Linux too:

~> man -t mgp >! /tmp/j
mdoc warning: Empty input line #276
mdoc warning: Unknown keyword `indent' in .Bl request (#281)
