This is what I was missing. Now it shows up as an attachment and I can
save it separately. Thank you very much. I am now reading the Mew
manual very carefully, so I should not have missed this.

I am interested in doing this, but I am getting the following
messages:

*** To display this, install Mule-UCS for UTF-8.

AFAICT, I have Mule-UCS installed--it seems to work in other
situations, such as when I invoke "prefer-coding-system", so I don't
know why I am getting this message.

*** To display this, install "wvHtml".

I went to the wvHtml site and tried to download and install this
package, but the instructions were too sketchy, so I didn't
succeed. Am I correct in assuming that I need to install these to view
word files inline, or are you referring to a different function here?

Given the large amount of Word documents that I am receiving in
conjunction with the various projects that I am involved in (I am a
humanities scholar, and I would guess that about 99.7% of my
colleagues use either Mac or Windows), the ability to be able to
handle Word documents smoothly would be a big help. If any one can
offer any further advice on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
