This is NOT a Mew's requirement. This IS a GnuPG's requirement.
I don't know why MailCrypt can drive GnuPG with non-signed
keys. (Perhaps, the message created by MailCrypt is not encrypted to
the key's owner... but encrypted to yourself...)
You can use "pgpdump" to see if the cipher is correctly created:
