You can set
(setq mew-use-unread-mark t)
in your .emacs file and new/unread messages will be marked with U

Well pressing the key bound to mew-summary-prev-page (in summary mode)
should scroll the message up to the header section. In my
configuration the <DEL> key is probably what you want.

If you've picked the messages with the * mark you can simply hit m o
(mew-summary-mark-refile) to refile the messages to a folder.
