is it possible to view an attachment as an email?

Situation:

- spam filter decides an email is spam
- filter creates a wrapper email around the original email 
- original email is now attachment

if i hit ":" i can see the attachment (original email)

my question:

how do i see an attachment in the original email (i'd like to be able
to use ":" again)? the email comes up as type "Text/plain"

if i view the original message all i see is the binary encodeding...
