[mew-int 2975] encoding bug in summary

Please have a look at the forwarded spam mail and a partial snapshot
of my Emacs frame (compiled 2011-02-24 from bzr sources). As you can
see, mew selects an incorrect encoding for displaying the body's
snippet within the summary, while the encoding is correct in the
message window itself.
This behaviour sometimes causes a long freeze of Emacs (30 seconds and
more) on my GNU/Linux box because FontConfig needs to find a fallback
font for exotic characters and eventually fails (like the incorrect
U+1C63 character shown in the summary line $(Q#|(B this character code
belongs to the `Ol Chiki' block, new in Unicode 5.1).
Any chance that this can be fixed?
