Dear Kazu,
In fact the «mistake» was mine: there was a
(standard-display-european 1)
in my .emacs file forbidding Mule to start. In that case, «7bits» and
«Text/Plain; charset=us-ascii» were always chosen. Maybe it would be
possible for Mew to enable Mule for its buffers (regardless of whether
or not it is globally turned on)?
Now, with Mule the guess is OK but that has a side effect (I recall
vaguely having read it is sort of common with this implementation of
Mule): I see \201 in the header before an accented letter (like [é,ï]
in the subject of this mail) -- but with Japanese chars it is Ok. Any
explanation and/or workaround?
Thanks,
Christophe
