If you prefer iso-8859-1 rather than utf-8, please don't set
unify-8859-on-decoding-mode.

I didn't see the problem with the above configuration.

If you have (standard-display-european 1) in your configuration, 
please remove it.  See also `http://www.mew.org/FAQ/setting.html.en'.
